Of Late

It's been awhile since I last update, because *jeng jeng* after years, I finally found myself a permanent job! I wouldn't believe it too if 3 years ago I tell my future self that I'm gonna work permanently as I'm more to freelance type worker, accept commission work/ freelance modeling/ blogging as I'm that type of person who can't be grounded by rules and regulations. Well, that old "me" has sorta come to an end and I'm starting anew here, with new hopes and changes that hopefully can mold me into a better person.

I'm working with Joe Chia, a Malaysian designer in creating modern pieces for both men and women wear. His eye-catching silhouettes and monochromatism approach in each and every piece of his designs is truly world class level. He took part in Paris Fashion Week for years and now expanding his business through online platform, hence needed a hand and there's where I come in. I'm now handling Joe Chia's online store and couldn't be more grateful to have the chance joined this family in pursuit for a better Malaysian fashion industry.

Here are some bits of what happened through the first two weeks of work:

Started my first day of work with these confectionaries from Japan!
Thank you Peiyue

Minimalistic office

Did another batch of shooting last week, new arrivals coming soon!

Basically these are what my works are and I'm expecting heavier workload soon as fashion week season till October 6th! And now you can purchase Joe Chia's design at your utmost comfort zone by just a few clicks through Joe Chia's online store!

MODA 26th Anniversary

My 2nd year of joining the celebration of MODA's anniversary, thank you so much to Melvin who invited me two year consecutively to witness the one of the biggest celebration for Malaysian designers which took place at Publika last week.

Themed Studio 54 (googled and it's New York Broadway style), 50 designers showcased their masterpieces at Publika Solaris Dutamas from 7th of September onwards till 14th September and will showcase them at Johor as well.

President of MODA Ms. Gillian Hung, Orson Liyu, Melvin, Orson's muse, and me as Melvin's muse that night

I went as a guest and muse for Melvin and wore his Melson Kuala Lumpur made-to-measure creation "Bonita" that night. Met so many friends in this fashion industry that night too, this anniversary gradually become a reunion night for most of us because we see faces that we meet once a year, and some even longer!

Edison, Melvin, me and Steve
Both Edison and Steve done my hair and makeup for my previous newspaper shoot
So happy to see them again!

One of the kindest person in this industry I've met

Mama G giving a welcome speech that night

On that celebration night, a memorandum was signed between AFAB and Asean-Indian Business Council that aim to help Malaysian and other ASEAN countries designers on manufacturing and raw material sourcing. There's a formation of CAFD ( Council of Asean Designers) and Mama G has been appointed to become CAFD's first president. One step further for Malaysia's fashion industry, and we're slowly going international!

Yang Berbahagia Dato Idris Mohd. Esa, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Kenn Yam from AFAB Asia, Yang Mulia Datuk Seri Utama Raja Nong Chik, Mr Mohan K from High Commission of India, Mr Shukran Valiram from the Asean-Indian Business Council (AIBC) and, Gillian Hung, President of MODA.

After memorandum being signed, there was a Samsung Young Designer Awards show and Top 12 finalists of selected young designers showcased their designs inspired and accessorized with Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Saw so many model friends on the runway, can't help but shout out to their names when they passed by me lol. I guess it's kinda hard to make a straight face with friend-as-audience like me.

Melson Kuala Lumpur Made-To-Measure "Bonita"

Instead of going big and fluffy, this year Melson Kuala Lumpur design focus on sleek and chic. Named "Bonita" which means beauty in Spanish, this dress has an elegant touch with those spanish rose embroidery design on top and layered belt and slit design which emphasize the flow of female's bodyline.

Makeup of the night, done by myself:
Eyes: NARS
Lips: 3CE

Once again, thank you so much for the invitation Melvin, it was a fun night of eat, drink and dance as well as bumping into familiar faces all around. Hope to see you guys again next year!

KyoChon 1991, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Finally get to slot in some time and sit down with Peiyue to plan for our upcoming Korea trip! In order to set our mood we decided to have dinner at KyoChon 1991. Ever since I went to Kuching, I've been having this fried chicken cravings which me myself couldn't understand why.

Been wanting to try KyoChon but hesitated due to the long queues when it first started its business at Malaysia and slowly I forgot its existence till this round, plan to have fried chicken at Pavilion but didn't want KFC anymore, hence KyoChon suddenly pops up in my mind and we decided to give it a try!

Started from Gu-Mi area at Korea, KyoChon now has more than 1000 restaurants worldwide! I was too hungry I forgot to took quite a few photos that night lol. Including the main entrance, interior as well as another order of honey series fried chicken!

Story of KyoChon

For the ease of ordering, you can choose your combos easily according to this chart

Since KyoChon is famous for delivering sauced by hands and fresh fried chicken to their customers, hence 15minutes of waiting is needed after customer place their orders. There's this crossword puzzle me and Peiyue tried to solve but we gave up for the last few, it is simply too difficult. (Anybody knows all the answer? lol)

Study very carefully all the details stated on this piece of table cover and we still failed to solve the crossword puzzle

I don't mind waiting for the wings and drummettes as long as they serve drinks to us. We ordered these two signature drinks which are famous at KyoChon restaurants:

Natural Sparkling Plum Fruit Tea - RM8.00

Natural Sparkling Yuza Fruit Tea - RM8.00

I'm not one that against bubbly sparkling drinks as I myself like soda drinks, a little bit too much compared to those in my same clique (I really need to watch my diet), hence I find these sparkling fruit tea taste good!

The plum one reminds me of those sparkling champagne my family will bought occasionally and it feels really good to have those sweet memories reminded in this glass of fruit tea. The yuza tea tasted quite sourish which I like. Something bubbly to go with the fried chicken instead of soft drinks is making me more happy.

Wedges - RM5.90

While waiting for our fried chickens, we ordered wedges as appetizers so that we won't over starve ourselves. Few types of dip sauces available for selection, we chose Honey Mustard that goes perfectly with the wedges.

After awhile... Jeng jeng!

Soy Garlic Wings and Drummette - Regular, 8pc, RM18.90

The freshly fried chicken wings and drummettes are delicious. Soy Garlic sauce taste good when pair of the crispy thin deep fried chicken skin. They are not that greasy nor dripping with sauce. Compare with other Korean fried chicken franchise, KyoChon's fried chicken defnitely drier. No MSG, 100% natural ingredients, no fast food and only use the healthiest, freshest chickens.

Drummette size comparing with my thumb

We finished up the 8 pieces of wings and drummettes in just few minutes and left ourselves craving for more. So we ordered another regular portion of Honey series drummettes and wings, waited for another 15 minutes and I forgot to take photos when the fried chickens were served.  One regular portion is a bit little for two person sharing but two regular portions are a bit too much. Felt too full after finished up 8 drummettes and wings in the end of the day.

Comparing to the soy garlic series, honey series taste towards sweeter side, and I find myself quite disappointed that the chickens that they served to us are frozen chickens, a bit contradicting to their promises. I showed Peiyue the blackened chicken bones and smiled sarcastically lol. The chicken meat taste a bit off and funny too. Meh.

I really do hope that KyoChon can look into their chicken quality and deliver their promises made towards customers. For the time being, I think I had enough fried chickens I shall give myself a break. lol.

Will You Still Love Me...

When I'm no longer young and beautiful?

When Lana Del Rey sings this phrase in "Young and Beautiful", it kinda struck me because in this superficial world, I'm no longer consider in the young and beautiful group, I'm totally out of the young clique! I won't deny that I'm aging, but I wish at least I'm doing it in an elegant way instead of giving up myself totally and just let things be.

I guess the most horrible thing a female can do to herself is to give up looking pretty and confidence. Each and everyone of us may be have different perspective on the pretty-o-meter, but if you take good care of yourself, well-prepared yourself in both physically and mentally way, you can take the days ahead of you in a graceful way. Denying actual age and the fact we're all aging is just living in denial, it's not gonna benefit any aspect in life.

And I guess from there I don't need to ask others for self-validation purposes such, phrases like in the lyrics: Will you still love me if I'm no longer young and beautiful? Because I know very well that I do love myself and I'm pampering my skin with Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair series, it is a moment of luxury that winds down the end of a tiring day for me, a treat for my skin.

The revolutionary serum that maximizes skin's natural renewal process

It's no longer a secret that our skin renew every night, it repairs the damage we suffered during day time such as pollution, sun rays and make-up chemicals etc. Slowly our skin's renewal process will slow down due to aging and eventually, it can't keep up with the damaging process and there starts the signs of aging.

As for me, I'm not really a healthy lifestyle person to start with. I consume a lot of junk food, I barely drink enough water, I put on makeup on daily basis and worst of all, insomnia seems to attack me frequently of late. All these are adding up to the fact that my skin will probably aged more than those in the same league as me. As an urban female who striving to live her way in this fast pace city, I turn to Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair series recently and I knew I made the right choice when my friends and work associates told me I look more radiant and my skin condition has become better.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum - RM250

in gel type

I have fine lines, wrinkles, dark eye circles and these are not even funny when they exist because as a model who needs to be taken photos of, I really need to look good almost all of the time! Using these silky cream gel Advanced Night Repair Eye Gel really gives me a boost to re-ignite the skin area around my eyes to a brighter and youthful pair of eyes.

The skin around my eyes are less dehydrated, moisturized after two weeks of usage. I'm still looking forward to see more results in a long term usage. Really can't wait for my dark eye circles, puffyness and fine lines to be erased, or at least, faded.

Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II -
30ml - RM290
50ml - RM400

The #1 night serum in the skincare market, can I call this the Elixir of Youth?

I'll use the words such as "dramatic changes to my skin" in order to described this bottle of 30 years research Advanced Night Repair serum by Estée Lauder. I've been hearing people complimenting improvement of my skin recently I even look at the mirror and doubting myself. lol. I apply 3 drops of serum every night before sleep, and I felt my skin is smoother and hydrated after two weeks of application.

With its exclusive ChronoluxCB Technology (the advanced night repair eye serum contains the same technology too!), it give a boost on the night-time skin renewal process, alongside with active ingredients such as algae extract and yeast extract, skin cells are pushed to increase their own catabolysis activity efficiency, and I'll be waking up to a radiant, smoother, younger looking skin everyday!

Despite my hectic jobs and travel schedule lately, I can really feel the changes of my skin condition after applying the Advanced Night Repair series for two weeks. I really can't wait to see better changes to my skin after a longer period of usage. They kinda made it to my list of holy grail night time skincare products

This is my luxurious night time beauty ritual, what's yours?

P.S. Tōkyō, SS2, Petaling Jaya

What's the food that comes into your mind when Tokyo is mentioned? Ramen? Sushi? Or like what P.S. Tokyo is serving - Matcha soft serve? Finally get to visit this hype dessert shop located at SS2 with a bunch of "earth signs" friends after we had dinner at ramen shop nearby.

Come to think of it, was that night a Japanese-themed night? Everything we ate were so Japanese lol. Since all of us never tried P.S. Tokyo's dessert before, it will be fun exploring the new (to me) dessert place I guess.

Calvin photobombed my shot -_-"

located at 1st floor, P.S. Tokyo's interior is more towards Japanese modern minimalism style

Since it's a Japanese themed dessert shop, maneki neko and Kaonashi from Spirited Away are the perfect decoration!

Had some really hard time to decide what to order at the counter. I'm really not a big fan of ice cream as I find that the more I eat ice cream, the thirstier I become, hence I really don't understand why ice cream can be labelled as summer dessert, I feel so dehydrated after one lol. In the end instead of drinks, I decided to order a parfait just because this shop is famous for its soft serve.

Calvin's milk soft serve - RM9.90

My milk parfait - RM15.90

I once broke a glass when scooping out a very hard piece of chocolate cake from a parfait (at another shop), I can't stop laughing after they serve me a brand new glass of parfait which I'm trying very hard to finish it all by my own and ever since then, eating parfait is like a joke to me I just can't stop laughing remembering what I've done. I have no idea why I ordered milk parfait at P.S. Tokyo, probably because I'm attracted to the word - milk!

Their milk soft serve tasted milky but not as smooth as some other soft serve in the market, and P.S. Tokyo's soft serve seems to be on a sweeter note. There are fruit loops in the bottom of my cup of parfait, and after the milk soft serve melted in the cup, I felt like I'm having breakfast selection for supper lol.

Clounie's Kinako Latte - RM13.90

Kinako (Roasted Soybean Flour) latte is available in this dessert shop. This is my first time heard of Kinako Latte, apparently it only available in Japan as this is one of their food culture. Its roasted taste isn't really to my liking tho.

Jean's Joo no Set - RM25.90
consist of Salted Matcha Pie, 3 Macarons and Genmaicha Tea

Not a big fan of matcha hence I didn't try Jean's Joo no Set at all. If you're really into Japanese food culture such as matcha, I guess P.S. Tokyo is a nice hang out place as the place is quite spacious with pretty wooden and steel furnitures, decent dessert selections too.

And did you know there's a printer available for customers to print photos taken at P.S. Tokyo which are shared on Instagram? In order to print the photos, you need to insert the hashtag #pstokyo, the PC will detect and print the photos on the spot! We took quite a few funny shots despite we all think ourselves look like shit that night. It was fun hanging out with this bunch of earth signs (Virgo and Taurus) people who talk nonsense for the whole night lol. Thanks for the laugh guys!

Taken using Clounie's camera.
