The Taste of Happiness

Aside of being a feeling, Happiness is also a taste. I feel like I could taste happiness everytime I went to Yashi-no-mi and eat their mentaiko omuraisu. (read my blog about it here and Jean's recent post here which is 100% well-written than mine.) The taste of happiness never left since I first try it and whenever I needed a comfort food, there's where I'll go.

Life is so damn hard when your friends are all attached and having the time of their life. Who's gonna pity me and give me some hug and words of encouragement when I'm sad? Okay, maybe my friends are there for me for most of the time, but still the feeling of belonging isn't quite there. And I really don't mind having that special someone in my life.

Probably having that special cheese tart can be quite close enough to feel happiness again? Melting cheese tart is a thing in the food industry of Kuala Lumpur now. Each and every bakery seems to come out with their own melting cheese tart, and I'm glad that the first melting cheese tart I had was Tokyo Secret.

Simple menu, just cheese tart and affogato ice creams

Look at'em fresh golden cheese tart

Decided to buy two tarts for my second purchase

Using high quality cheese imported from Japan, Tokyo Secret's melting (hanjyuku) cheese tart are freshly baked and hot from oven upon ordering. The shop is filled with aroma of cheese tart and I already started to drool on my first step into the shop.

O'Glorious Melting Cheese Tart

The melting cheese tart taste best right after purchase as the melting texture is there (caution content's  hot) and the crispy tart crust is just the best combo with the cheese filling. Each bite leading for more lust towards it and before you realize, you might just overstuff yourself with this cheesilicious tart. lol. It is really mind blowing if you never had any melting cheese tart in your life before, life-changing dessert that will rewrite the definition of happiness.

Hokkaido Mountain with Okinawa Purple Potato

There's another less-known dessert serve by Tokyo Secret which is their Japan-imported ice cream. They are so milky and smooth, when paired with okinawa purple potato, the dessert's moderate sweetness is refreshing. A perfect after-cheese-tart dessert I supposed?

Tokyo Secret is actually located opposite Starbucks and beside Mac City. It's a bit hard to notice if you just walk pass the place without looking into Mac City, but that doesn't stop the crowd rush into Tokyo Secret and queue up for freshly baked melting cheese tart everyday.

I'm glad I already had them twice and yet I'm craving for more. I'm so greedy when it comes to self-indulgence and wanting the feeling of happiness. Well just let me okay since I'm a single and lonely doge lolololol.

Châteraisé, Isetan, 1 Utama Shopping Centre

I can still remember the first time I tasted pastries from Japan, it was some souvenir from my mum's friend who came back from Japan. I could remember how each and every bite is so fresh and satisfying despite the pastries are wrapped nicely in pretty plastic wrappings and probably been quite a while since they're manufactured. Nevertheless, the taste is what I couldn't forget, and ever since then I've been telling my friends that Japanese have the best pastries and I wanna know how they did it!

Of course, till this day I still don't know how they did it. lol.

Although I've never been to Japan, but Japan has brought itself closer to me. Hahahahaha. What I meant was that now I can enjoy Japanese pastries and I don't need to fly myself there! Thanks to Isetan Malaysia, now that both KLCC and One Utama's Isetan outlet has this:

Châteraisé in Malaysia!

Founded since year 1954, Châteraisé has been the best patisserie in Japan. Châteraisé, pronounced as Sha-To-Reh-Ze, has become a big hit in KL city and you can spot the long queue of people buying cakes imported directly from Japan daily. The outlet at One Utama has just recently open hence me and Peiyue went to the shop and bought ourselves some desserts after our meal.

Patisseries imported directly from Japan, my dream has come true

You will be given a number after you select your cakes and desserts in order for not mixing up orders from other customers

You can get Japanese traditional desserts and ice creams here too!

What makes Châteraisé so well known in Japan is that they use natural and finest ingredients which they source throughout Japan to make their pastries. They have their own farm factory, non-additive baking process, the care for customers health by lowering sugar addition in certain pastries and also, the legendary gluten-protein-free cake baking process without using milk, egg and wheat for those who are lactose-gluten-protein allergic.

The sincerity of producing the best pastries for people can be felt in all the details from Châteraisé. The ideal of Châteraiseé is to bring out smiles from those who eat their cakes and pastries. I believe when you put customers benefit first, that's how your business will flourish too!

Our purchase! Two cakes and two cream puffs.

Crispy Chocolate Cake - RM14.80

Legendary Fresh Cream Cake - RM14.80

There are too many choices and we couldn't decide which to get hence we get these two flavour. I like Crispy Chocolate Cake more than the Legendary Fresh Cream Cake as the rich chocolate taste and fluffy sponge are so well blended! Can I have the whole cake by myself? lol.

Legendary Fresh Cream Cake was supposed to be one of Châteraisé best seller as they are proud of their fresh strawberries and cream but the frozen layer in between the sponge cakes is what makes me feel "eek". Me and Peiyue aren't even sure is the frozen layer supposed to be like how it was. lol. No doubt the fresh cream and strawberries are good but it's just the frozen part of the cake that I couldn't really accept it. lol. Shall try other strawberry cakes next time then.

Freshy Freeze, Nu Sentral

Ice cream, love by many and yet it is so hard to find nice ones around, don't you think so? But fret not, as Freshy Freeze is now opened at Nu Sentral, right in the heart of KL!

So what is Freshy Freeze you may ask? Some of you who often goes to Bangkok for travel purpose you may have seen Freshy Freeze located at Central World as well as other Central Shopping Centres around Thailand. Now, you don't have to go all the way to Thailand to get your fresh ice cream fix as you can have it here at 5th floor Nu Sentral, right beside the cinema.

Some of you may wonder, what does it mean by "Liveshow Serving Here", and where are all the ice creams that's on the menu? I don't see no ice cream in the shop! After searching high and low, only I realize all the ice cream of Freshy Freeze are freshly made! On the spot right after customer place their order.

Huge varieties of ice cream flavours as well as toppings.
You can mix your own combination of flavours and toppings, create your unique taste of fresh ice cream!

So how to order Freshy Freeze you may wonder, here are the steps:
  1. Choose an ice cream flavour and decide the size of ice cream. (M= 200G, L=300G)
  2. Select mix-ins/toppings and homemade sauce of your choice
  3. Additional choice of gourmet waffle bowl, waffle or french crêpe.

And voîla! Wait for your fresh ice cream to be made on the spot.

Guess what's the first choice of ice cream we've ordered that night

Making fresh ice cream step by step

The liquid mixture of ice cream were pour onto a frying pan that's freezing in -22 Celsius degree, the liquid mixture froze within seconds and you can start scraping the ice cream off the pan, keep tossing and turning the ice cream until it is all dry and solidify, then you can scoop it out from the pan and start decorate it with toppings of your choice.

Our first choice of the night: Strawberry Cheesecake RM25
Everybody's favourite!

Without freezing your ice cream overnight like usual ice cream parlour, freshly made ice cream like Freshy Freeze's are tasteful, smooth, doesn't melt easily, and most of all, doesn't have the ice bits that froze in between ice cream that "polluted" ice cream taste. Aside from ice cream, Freshy Freeze prepared the freshest toppings as well, making your ice cream tasting experience an awesome one!

Strawberry Cheesecake is one of Freshy Freeze's hot seller. Smooth cheesecake accompanied by the sweet and sour strawberry bits, mixed and fry with the ice cream, each and every spoonful of vanilla ice cream are burst with the flavour of cheesecake and strawberries, leaving you wanting more and more.

Banana Flambé with French Crêpe, RM25

If you know your flambé, you'll definitely noticed something missing in this dessert as there are no alcohol to this flambé, but it tastes pretty close so you'll get the hang of it. In order to cater the needs of muslim customers, as well as kids, this dish contains no alcohol but taste equally good! Soft banana pieces and french crêpe soaks in the sauce, paired with fresh vanilla ice cream, mm-mm~ so good!

Customers can fry their own ice cream too if they are up for the challenge!
I kinda messed up the ice cream hahahaha definitely not easy!

The ice cream that me and Jean fried for was for this:

Cappuccino Calling, RM25

Coffee ice cream, foam, espresso shots= 100%

To be honest, I would list Cappuccino Calling as my favourite of all I've tried that night, because as a coffee addict, I find Cappuccino Calling is the perfect cup of coffee dessert I would want everyday. Fresh coffee ice cream with the amount of sweetness that's just right, smooth foam and also thick, aromatic espresso shots, it is literally heaven for coffee lover!

Last but not least:

Belgian Chocolate with Almond and Oreo combo, RM15

If Cappuccino Calling is for coffee lover, Belgian Chocolate definitely curated for chocolate addicts. Thick Belgian chocolate ice cream, with crunchy almond bits and also tons of Oreo cookies, this is one cup that no dessert lover will reject.

Another great perks of having Freshy Freeze as desserts is aside being freshly made on the spot, there are no colourings and preservatives added into any of their ice creams, serving only premium grades desserts to all ice cream lovers. We definitely had so much ice cream that night and yet I'm wanting it more now! Definitely gonna go back for their Cappuccino Calling soon.

It definitely is a fresh-tatic live show ice cream for health!

Honeymoon

Weee~!!! I FINALLY went to honeymoon!!! Hahahaha NOT! -___-"""" Until today I still don't get to go to honeymoon, so.......

It's quite some time I haven't had any desserts recently, so decided to have try at this famous HK style dessert house call "Honeymoon". (Ok ok, I know I'm being sooooooo massive outdated when it comes to trying new stuff.)

So here I am, at Honeymoon Kepong branch with few of my friends.

No, don't ask me what the mascot is.

Honeymoon

We're joking that we can actually get our graduation photo taken here! Haha. Maybe they should do some costume renting to the customers.

Customize seats... But I think only limit to certain sizes of people.

It took us some time to decide what to order, there are so many options available for you to choose. But the only thing is, I think Honeymoon is way more expensive compare to Tim Pan Kor Kor 甜品哥哥, Gei Tak Sek 记得吃 and Dragon Chef 龙师傅.

Another thing is, do not wear short pants/skirts to this place. I got bitten by mosquitoes, real bad. Kinda regret I wore short pants, itchiness totally spoil my mood in indulging all the desserts. :(

Bird Nest + Coconut Milk on top

I guess this is one of the most tasteless bird nest I've ever had in my life. It tastes just like plain water, seriously!!! My friend almost can't finish this bowl of 'bird nest' due to its tasteless. Maybe they forgot to put in some sugar or something. No marks for this.

Yin Yang Tafu Fa (Didn't try this, so no comment.) RM6

Volcano!

This is one dessert that is enough for a couple's appetite. So big in portion!!!

杨枝金露 Mango and Pomelo Milk Dessert RM12

I've been craving for this mango pomelo dessert thingy ever since I tried it at Dragon Chef SS2. But I felt disappointed because Honeymoon's is not that tasty compare to what I had before at previous restaurant. Oh well, maybe things are just never meant to be.

Chunky mangoes, sago and pomelo.

Star dish of the night - Durian Pancake RM9

Ordered this Durian Pancake for the sake of 'trying'. I had this once at Tim Pan Kor Kor before, it was delicious. I guess it'll be a delight dessert for durian lovers. (Still, a bit pricey at Honeymoon!!! I had this at Tim Pan Kor Kor for RM4!!!)

Filled with Durian and cream

I guess overall it was a decent visit to this dessert house, but it cost us RM50++ just for desserts! LOL!!!! Please don't ask me whether I will pay another visit to Honeymoon, because really, I don't know.... LOL!
