It-Girl-Wannabe Secret Shopping Guide

Shoutout to all the aspiring IT girls on a budget who are living around Klang Valley, because the new hotspot of shopping haven is just around the corner. Few weeks ago, me and my friends went to visit Genting Premium Outlet because we wanted to see what's available there and see if those things are really cheap. So let's find out!

Arrive Genting Premium Outlet at 5pm and left at 10pm.
My friends literally shop till clock stops!

There are 150 branded outlet stores at Genting Premium Outlets, the one that has the longest queue gotta be Coach. And there's Moschino, Charles & Keith, Pedro, Adidas, Furla, Kate Spade etc just to name a few. I think most customers went to Coach bcs they have 50% by then.

Buka puasa period also long queue. We gave up after queueing for 5 mins lol.

For me, as a it-girl-wannabe but on a strict budget, I find that these outlet doesn't offer discount as low as the Johor outlets. It may appear cheap compare to normal store prices but for most of the stores they doesn't really qualified as season clearance cheap cheap. So I'ma give you a few tips on shopping when you're on a strict budget:

  • Avoid buying something just because it is cheap:
At premium outlet as such, it is not hard to find that cheap lil pouch's price goes lower than you usually spot in shopping malls. Is the design really suits your fashion style? Is it something useful? Will you use it again and again? If all the answer are NO, hence you really shouldn't buy it. It isn't called shopping if you do, it is called wasting.

Wear layered clothing while shopping around Genting Premium Outlet really is fun, at least you can wear those thick leather jacket that you haven't gotten chance to wear around KL

Did you spot any shoes that you're eyeing at Charles & Keith?
They have up to 70% discount for some collection

Secondly:

  • Plan what you need/what to buy before you go shopping:
Or else you'll just grab anything you can because everything is below normal retail price. I've seen quite a few pairs of full white Adidas sneakers that goes as low as RM180/pair. Affordable yes, but do I really need them? No. Because I've just bought some new shoes recently, although they aren't Adidas but they are in white too so... Sorry Adidas, next round probably.

For the sport/casual it girls, you might wanna check out Adidas store
They might have limited edition sneakers and beautiful sweat suits in your size

Then I was told Puma store has this buy two free 1 promotion going on and my friend Jade bought 3 sport bras for about RM100. Sneakers are worth of value too. I kinda hope they will carry Fenty Puma collection soon tho.

  • On a budget? Stick to the classics:
Do not splurge on highly identifiable pieces if you're an avid fashion trend follower because the cost-per-wear is high and they're out of season in just a blink and you wouldn't wanna wear them two seasons in a row. Buy a classic, nice white top, a pair of good fitting jeans, a pair of elegant loafers (or heels if you prefer girly style on casual days), these items are gonna go wayyyy longer than that fuschia bralettes.

Topshop,Topman, Ms Selfridge etc have up to 80% sales
Too bad they don't have anything that catches my eyes at the moment

I went around Topshop store hoping to find something good and end up bought one of this:

In need a pair of sunnies~
Plus these are just RM13.20!

  • Don't dress seasonally:
So what if I like statement pieces like those Kate Spade banana leaf and banana bag as below?

Then you just have to ditch your fashion rule book. By adding layers and change a bit here and there, summer outfits are fit for winter too. Long summer dress with turtleneck and a short leather jacket? I'm in! This banana leaf bag is major love from Kate Spade but due to its lack of space (I'm a hoarder) so I'ma leave it out from my shopping list.

Overall, Genting Premium Outlet is like a treasure trove that you might need to search high and low for some really great deals. For example, City Chain's Titus watch for RM620 is totally a steal. My friend bought one on the spot and it looks exquisite. Do check out G2000 and Braun Büffel too as they are really cheap according to those who knows the brand.

Some of the stores are still under renovation and the whole outlet aren't 100% fully operating yet, so I'm looking forward towards my next visit and hopefully I could find some really good deals among the stores. I'm definitely hope you gain something throughout my it-girl-wannabe secret shopping guide too.

Happy 4th Birthday Butterfly Project Malaysia

If my blog were to count by years/days, this is will be my 12th/11th years of blog writing. It wasn't all-so-fancy when I think about it, blog writing definitely needs patience, perseverance and support and I am so glad that during my early blog writing years, I met the mamasan of Malaysian bloggers - Tammy

Honestly, I've never seen someone with so much passion when it comes to writing blog and sharing experiences and good deals she came across in her everyday life. I met her in SaSa blogger gatherings 8 or 9 years ago and I'm glad this friendship has been going on for so long and things has become bigger for her as she's one of the person-in-charge in Althea Korea and also the founder of Malaysian fashion/beauty blogger community - Butterfly Project.

This year marks the 4th year of Butterfly Project, a lot of bloggers missed out the first celebration so Tammy decided to throw another party for bloggers to celebrate this wonderful event and she's the one paying for the party. Can you find someone who has so much passion and love when it comes to blogging and the love to see this industry grow? Honestly I can't, she really is the one and only mamasan for this industry, if it's not for seeing her going through her life's ups and downs and still insist in doing what she love + creating opportunities for bloggers, I might have gave up blogging some time ago.

Upon receiving the invite to the party and saw the dress code was pastel, I seriously can't think of anything to wear as nowadays I'm more to monochromatic/casual style. Pastel is really not my thing lolololol so I decided to fully utilise my butterfly washi tape and use them to decorate my plainly drew makeup.

Last minute working on the decoration. Event started at 3pm I'm cutting these butterflies out at cafe beside from 2:30p.m. with shivering hands because I'm too excited. *breathes heavily*

Beautifully decorated venue

There's no birthday party without cake and this cake is major love which later on it became a photo prop to all the bloggers. Jean almost drop it on the floor LOL!

Name cards and stickers for decoration purpose!
Perfect for crafty person like me yay!

TADAAA~! Our birthday bag sponsored by so many brands!
Not our birthday but we get presents! And so many of it! What sorcery is this Butterfly Project!

Here's what we have received inside the birthday bag!!! Totally OH-EM-GEE!!!

One of many Tammy's good traits is when she gives, she give whole-heartedly that you're the one being shy to receive. And this round, thanks to her and the whole Althea team, each and every blogger who attended the party received a birthday bag full of surprise goodies so that we have more things to blog about. I cannot tell you how much I love the products and I've already prepared a few separate blog posts to review them so stay tuned!

Here's a list of what we have received and thanks to all these generous sponsors who loaded the birthday bag with love and joy for each of us:
  • Wanderlust Things Unicorn Face Makeup Brush
  • W.Lab Pocket Shadow Palette
  • Orkid Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks
  • 1028 Bigs Eyes Magnifier Mascara
  • Dolly Wink LiquidEyeliner
  • Mamonde Liquid Eyeliner and Hydro Mist
  • Neesya Cleansing Set
  • Hadabisei Moisturizing Face Mask
  • Clinelle UV Defense
  • Clinelle Hot Body Shaper Cream
  • Adidas Climacool Shower Gel and Deodorant
  • Pax Moly Aloe Vera Soothing Gel
  • Photobook Malaysia book and 4R prints

I guessed you would've know which few are my favourites as I've already started using them and posted in my instagram/insta story. Will do more reviews of these products so be sure you follow my Instagram account as well.

Last but not least, G&G Studiobooth for beautiful photobooth decorations and photo print outs as memorabilia! The printed photos with Jean and Zihang is definitely going into my journal already.

The one and only photo that features me and makeup lol. Thanks Jean!
I've won a NYX makeup goodie bag too for best makeup XD

After seeing all these for a community birthday, can you find someone who has so much passion and love when it comes to blogging and the love to see this industry grow? Honestly I can't, Tammy really is the one and only mamasan for this industry, if it's not for seeing her going through her life's ups and downs and still insist in doing what she love + creating opportunities for bloggers, I might have gave up blogging some time ago.

Seeing Butterfly Project going stronger and stronger, with more younger bloggers joining and senior bloggers like me and Jean staying around, this community is a platform to support each other in blogging industry especially when there are people who wanna exploit and use bloggers as free advertising marketing strategy. Community like Butterfly Project and people like Tammy teaches us that we bloggers do have our own worth and never, ever do anything for free, even bloggers need to eat and live life and there's no free lunch in this world right?

I hope I can continue be invited to the 5th, 6th, 7th and so on birthday of Butterfly Project and continue to be a part of this wonderful community.
